Unleash Recognition by Broadcasting Your Team’s Success
Quick Leadership Tips #7
If one of your team has received positive feedback, ensure everyone knows about it.
People like recognition for their work, so broadcasting your team’s successes will go down well.
I’ve noticed that other leaders, including the senior team, are often unaware of who is doing what across the organization.
And how could they? No one can be across everything.
Make sure the complexity and quality of your team’s work is common knowledge.
Here are some ideas on how to make this happen:
- Send a memo to the team
- If positive feedback is in writing, forward it to your boss and/or the senior team
- Do a shoutout (or series of shoutouts) at the team meeting
- Include the feedback in any reporting
- Submit a short piece in the internal newsletter
- Send a brief bio of your team member to the employee newsletter
- Mention the feedback in your one-to-ones with your boss
