Thanks for including me Shawn :-)

I've always been the person in the office who makes others laugh, "the inappropriate" one who makes jokes about knickers and loves innuendo. When I started writing I began with what I know, which is leadership and training. I wanted to write in a casual and entertaining way to take the stuffiness and pretension out. I got feedback from friends that they liked the more quirky comments in the stories which was great to hear as I've spent years culling anything deemed "unprofessional" from my writing. I thought I'd have a go at writing about some of the things that irk me (I love the word irk, makes me feel very grown up). The more positive responses I got re the humor the more I let it out in my writing. Each time I write something I metaphorically stick my fingers in my ears saying, 'la, la, I can't hear you," when I push the publish button while hoping for the best. When I wrote the Why is My Underwear so Uncomfortable story I got into character, channeling a very indignant Judy Dench/Maggie Smith mash up type lady. I'm still working on the humor, though. I wrote what I thought was a very funny story about having a colonoscopy but it bombed because the title "Preparing to Have a Camera Stuck up my Bottom" put people off! Apparently people don't like reading about serial diarrhea and bums! Who knew?

Thanks again Shawn, I'm looking forward to reading the articles and comments from the other writers.
